ARRIVAL

Description:

For his work on ARRIVAL, Bradford Young became the first Black cinematographer to earn an Oscar nomination. Taking the richness with which he imbued his earlier indies like PARIAH and AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS to a much larger canvas, Young finds emotional nuance and visual wonder in the story of a linguist (Amy Adams in a career-best performance) tasked with communicating with extraterrestrials that have landed on earth. With a moving, thought-provoking screenplay by Eric Heisserer and visionary direction by Denis Villeneuve (both Oscar-nominated for their work), ARRIVAL is a stunning sci-fi swirl that jumps off the screen with its heady ideas and wondrous imagery. The minute this film is over, it’ll demand to be viewed again.
