AFTER HOURS 40th Anniversary

A weird, wondrous modern-day screwball comedy that’s both a time capsule and timeless, AFTER HOURS follows a bored office worker who goes on an all-night odyssey through 1980s Soho with increasingly bad luck pushing him farther and farther from home. Enough praise cannot be heaped upon Griffin Dunne whose charismatic presence in the lead (he also produced the film with Amy Robinson) grounds this manic, electrifying film with a sense of humanity, and he is supported by an expertly-assembled ensemble that includes Rosanna Arquette, Linda Fiorentino, Teri Garr, Catherine O’Hara, Cheech & Chong, Verna Bloom, and many others. While AFTER HOURS was lost for a while amongst Martin Scorsese’s filmography, it has now been reclaimed as one of the great filmmaker’s unsung masterpieces. 

Griffin Dunne is an actor and filmmaker best known for his performances in CHILLY SCENES OF WINTER, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, and AFTER HOURS (also producer), among many others. He also directed the films PRACTICAL MAGIC and ADDICTED TO LOVE, among others. He was nominated for an Oscar for his short film, “Duke of Groove,” a Golden Globe Award for AFTER HOURS, and an Emmy for FRASIER.

Amy Robinson is a producer best known for CHILLY SCENES OF WINTER, AFTER HOURS, RUNNING ON EMPTY, and JULIE & JULIA, among many others.
