UP IN THE AIR 15th Anniversary

After his teenage-focused hit, JUNO, Jason Reitman turned his attention to the lives of middle-aged men and women with his 2009 masterpiece, UP IN THE AIR. A bittersweet tale set during the Great Recession, the film follows Ryan Bingham, a man who travels the country firing people for a living, as he is sent out on his final in-person tour. Uncannily capturing the sense of loss experienced by so many during this fraught period, UP IN THE AIR is also a film about the value of human connection in an increasingly virtual world. Fifteen years on, UP IN THE AIR remains as poignant as ever and flies high thanks to Dana Glauberman’s elegant editing, Reitman’s typically taut direction, and the exemplary performances of its entire cast.

Dana Glauberman, ACE, is an editor best known for her collaborations on seven films including THANK YOU FOR SMOKING, JUNO, UP IN THE AIR (BAFTA nom), and GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE, among others. She was nominated for an Emmy for THE MANDALORIAN and has received six Eddie nominations.
